I’m sure a lot of you are familiar with the following situation:
You’re bombarded with messages from all directions which are screaming “content is king.”
Meanwhile, the role you have in your agency requires you to keep 50 plates spinning whilst juggling a few chainsaws and riding a unicycle along a tightrope – which is on fire… metaphorically at least.
You could easily be forgiven for putting off writing a blog until things quieten down a bit.
However, we know when it comes to trying to win new business in the agency world, things can be pretty relentless and that “quiet time“ either won’t happen or – if it does – it will end up being filled with a bunch of other priorities that have since filled your task list.
Not all agencies will have a dedicated content team/manager, so for the significant majority that don’t, here’s a list of reasons why your agency should still maintain a blog.
1. SEO and Website Visibility
- Search Engine Ranking – Google rewards fresh, high-quality content. Regular blogs help the agency rank for industry-relevant keywords like “UK marketing trends,” “PPC strategies,” or “social media tips.”
- Organic Traffic Growth – Every blog post is a new entry point for potential clients searching online.
- Local SEO Benefits – Posting about UK-specific trends or case studies helps your agency rank for geographically targeted keywords, like “London digital marketing agency” or “UK influencer strategy.”
2. Authority and Thought Leadership
- Regular blogs can position your agency as “expert” on a relevant subject. Clients want agencies that understand industry shifts, whether it’s Google algorithm updates, emerging TikTok trends, new AI marketing tools or whatever else is newsworthy in the weird and wonderful discipline that your agency sits within.
- Being seen as a thought leader builds trust, which makes prospective clients more likely to enquire and existing clients more likely to stay.
3. Client Education and Lead Nurturing
- Blogs can answer common client questions (e.g., “What’s the ROI of TikTok ads?”) and pre-sell services by showing expertise.
- They also work as evergreen sales tools — an article written today can help generate leads for months or even years to come.
4. Social Media and Email Content
- Each blog post provides content that can also be shared in newsletters, LinkedIn updates, and other social channels. This keeps the agency’s brand visible and active, even when team members are too busy to create new campaigns from scratch.
5. Competitive Edge
- Agencies that stop publishing fade into the background. Prospects often check agency blogs to evaluate expertise — an outdated or empty blog can send the wrong message: “too small,” “too busy,” or “out of touch.”
6. Showcasing Results and Case Studies
- Blogs can highlight recent success stories, innovative campaigns, or client wins, serving as proof of capability. This demonstrates not only expertise but also the ability to deliver measurable results.
7. Long-Term ROI
- Blogging is low-cost, compounding marketing. One post that ranks well can keep driving leads long after publication.
- Compared to paid ads, a consistent blog strategy provides sustainable inbound traffic without constant ad spend.
8. Humanising Your Agency
- Regular updates show personality — sharing behind-the-scenes insights, event recaps, or team achievements helps create a stronger connection with your prospects.
And for some top tips for those agencies that are just too busy to write a regular blog you could try:
- Batch content – Writing multiple blogs at once and then schedule them for publishing.
- Delegating or outsourcing – use a copywriter or AI-assisted drafts for efficiency.
- Posting shorter updates – even 600 word trend updates keep the blog alive.
- Planning an editorial calendar – align posts with seasonal trends, UK industry events, or algorithm updates.
And, just for full disclosure, this particular blog has been created a lot quicker than some of my previous articles – with a little bit of help from AI. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I must get back to spinning some plates whilst juggling chainsaws and riding my unicycle along a tightrope which is on fire!
