I read an interesting blog about the psychological effects of the Olympics on business and it got me thinking……
What, if any, impact did the Olympics have on our performance on behalf of our clients?
Did we get through and speak to more marketing decision makers?
Were they more responsive to our clients’ propositions?
Were they more likely to meet the agencies we represent?
So I looked at the statistics:
July was the most productive month we have had for over 5 years; in other words, we set more quality appointments for our clients in one month than we have in any other month for 5 years.
This can be attributed to a number of factors:
- A fully functioning team of 12 very capable and experienced New Business Managers
- A great client list of agencies with decent offers, sensible targeting and realistic expectations
- A general sense of optimism both before and during the Games
- Some extra team incentives developed by our Sales Director with an Olympic theme
Interesting….we’ll never quite know what direct impact the Games have had but we do know that it’s brought a sense of pride to this great country of ours, which has long been buried under misery and moaning.
