It’s Chip Shop Awards time again!
This is truly my favourite point in the creative industry calendar. For all the functional, factual, safe, bland or just downright annoying adverts we see throughout the year, The Chip Shop Awards give adland the chance to let off a bit of light-hearted steam. Or bad taste, offensive steam in many cases. But funny steam all the same.
Despite the fact that these ads will almost certainly never be used in an actual campaign for the brands they “represent”, they could easily be a contributing factor to winning new business for some of the agencies involved. It gives the marketing departments of many large organisations a chance to see the creativity and talent of the copy writers and designers without any kind of pitch process .
The winners will be announced in June.
