At Alchemis, you’ll be working with clients in the marketing, creative and communications industries, so we’re talking about PR agencies, web designers, research agencies, graphic designers and direct marketing companies.
Your clients want more business. So as a New Business Development Consultant you’ll basically have two main roles:
- Pitching to senior decision makers on behalf of your client and generating quality appointments
- Managing client relationships
In fact, the success of the B2B appointment setting campaign depends on the relationship you have with your client.
Is a New Business Development Consultant just a telephone sales job?
As a New Business Development Consultant you will be making phone calls. And lots of them. But this is about as far away from a telesales job as you can get.
After three months you’ll probably be managing five clients. This could be a West End PR agency, a specialist packaging design agency in Surrey or a young up-and-coming online marketing company in Manchester.
You’ll work on a different client each day, so the work is pretty varied. You’re not having the same conversation every day with the same type of people.
It’s not about picking up the phone and making cold calls. It’s about intelligent targeting; you’ll have a client that specialises in PR for retail and you’ll find out that a top high street retailer is on the look out for a new PR agency. As a New Business Development Consultant your job is to get that crucial appointment for your client.
Think you’ve got the skills to be a Business Development consultant?
To be a Business Development Consultant at Alchemis, you’ll definitely need at least two years experience in any selling environment.
At the moment you probably work in media sales or recruitment. You may be a New Business Manager. Or perhaps you’re working in an appointment setting role.
